For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son
John 3:16 is perhaps the most well-known verse in the Bible. It’s a declaration of love and salvation, that God loves us so much that he gave his only Son to die for our sins. This verse speaks to the heart of what it means to be made new in Christ. Through his death and resurrection, we can find new life and a new hope that we never knew before.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that when we put our faith in Christ, we become a new creation. The old life is gone, and we are made new. This is an incredible truth that we need to cling to as believers. No matter what our past looks like, no matter what we’ve done, we can be made new in Christ. We can leave behind our old ways and start fresh, with hope for the future.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart
Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that everything has its time and place, and that God has set eternity in our hearts. This is a powerful reminder that we were created for something more than just this earthly life. We were made to know God and to live with him forever. When we put our trust in him, we can find a new purpose and meaning for our lives. We begin to see that our time here on earth is just a small part of a much bigger story.
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
Matthew 5:23-24 reminds us of the importance of reconciliation in our relationships. Jesus calls us to make things right with our brothers and sisters before coming to offer our gifts to God. This is a crucial part of what it means to be made new in Christ. We must learn to forgive and to seek forgiveness from those we’ve wronged. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33 teaches us to seek God’s kingdom above all else. When we prioritize our relationship with him, everything else falls into place. We are made new in Christ when we learn to trust him with every aspect of our lives. We no longer need to worry about our needs, because God promises to take care of us when we put him first.
Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Philippians 2:1-2 reminds us of the power of unity in Christ. When we come together as believers, we can experience encouragement, comfort, and compassion. We are made new in Christ when we learn to put aside our differences and come together in love and unity.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind
Romans 12:2 reminds us that we are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We can’t live like the rest of the world and expect to experience the fullness of new life in Christ. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:26 promises us that God will give us a new heart and a new spirit when we turn to him. He will remove our hard hearts and give us hearts of flesh that are open and responsive to him. This is a powerful promise that reminds us of the incredible transformation that can take place when we put our faith in Christ.
